[Maven-plugins-developer] Change release strategy?

Since Maven wants to download plugins using the plugin plugin ( :-) ),
should we change the homepage and remove the download link and give higher
visibility to the Installation link?

I find going through the file release process on SF a fair amount of work..
and it really doesn't seem required?  Also, that might help us keep the
homepage up to date.   For example, Macker plugin isn't listed.
