Commit [r27839] Maximize Restore History

add a get method for elliptical regions

useful for instance to approximate space time prisms
it is named getElliptical(), and not simply get(), because I found the
pletora of get() methods, accepting from 2 to 5 double parameters,
was becoming rather difficult to understand.
