Well here is a bit of news for you. There was little point in programming on Liso for years until Macintosh OS X came out which is built on top of BSD Unix and subsequently Allegro ported its unix implementation to OS X as well. So, all I have to do is find a f77 compiler and a quick scan with google suggests that there already exist.
