Sorry for jumping into the discussion only by now. What is the state of
art of these patches. Shall I apply them to sourceforge/github?

I had no time to test them myself I shall try to do that in the
afternoon.

BTW, there is another subject that I wanted to discuss, it concerns
ELPA/MELPA. I shall open another thread for this.
