#58 Hang while reading files

Populating the list (with "Open Directory"), or clicking
"Refresh" reaches 54% (of 104 files) then seems to hang
for several seconds, reads several more files, hangs, etc.
It does this several times, then quickly finishes the
balance of files.
Overall time to finish takes up to two minutes.
I closed the program and rearranged files and folders, but
it didn't change the behavior.
