Running out of EVA suits

I seem to run out of EVA suits after a certain amount of time into the sim.

Im not sure if fires cause damage to equipment if the fire is started in an area that contains equipment or not?!

if so then I guess thats my bad luck and when manufacturing is released this will solve the problem.
No EVA suits means I will eventually run out of water to the detriment of all colonists as I have removed all Bases except for Alpha so I cant trade for new ones.

What I think actually happened is there was a malfunction on an EVA suit and it was reported correctly and repaired in the historical events tab. After this I had no EVA suits, and am wondering if there was a problem there? I am trying to replicate it now. will post if it is the case.

Another workaround for this problem would be to have a ice mining Rover or bucket scoop attachment, that could extract ice without having a need to go EVA(perhaps still requiring several people to operate effectively).

unrelated to the last post. when I end a mission it ends the mission by stranding the rover and occupants(helpful in certain situations I could imagine) and requiring an extra mission to retreive the stranded colonists.

What I was tring to do was get the mission to finalize itself, everyone pack up and board rover for the final phase of going home to base(because base determined that continuing on the mission was a waste of feul for the potential gain of a few extra kilos of rocks)

btw I noticed that everyone breathes pure Oxygen(without a nitrogen buffer)

http://www.highmars.org/niac/niac02.html <-- an interesting project to get mice to breathe argon/nitrogen/oxygen mixture

I have now been through several electrical shorts and suit tears and even a minor fire but the EVA suits are still there so I guess my theory was wrong. Not sure what cause them to disappear the first time.

I ran through another sim with just alpha base and the suits disappeared again. I still dont know why or what event might have caused it.

another guess: missions are created and then the mission is cancelled automatically. during unloading they might have been not correctly reassigned to alpha as another mission with the same rover is created during unloading and the unloading and simultaneous loading caused them to disappear?! sounds kind of unlikely though.

during this run I went through all people in base and 1 person had an EVA suit in their inventory but they were not doing any eva maintenance, they just kept it on their person as they went about their chores.

      Thanks for the feedback.

Settlements shouldn't run out of EVA suits in general.  They can be removed from settlements when they're taken out on rover missions, traded with other settlements or taken outside for EVA operations (and returned when the person enters the airlock).

A good way to see all of the people associated with the settlement, but no necessarily currently located there, is to open the settlement's info dialog, go to the "associated" tab, and click on the button to the right of the list.  This will open up the monitor with a custom tab showing all people associated with the settlement, even if they are out on missions or EVA operations.

In the mission tool, you can select a mission on the list and click the "Modify Mission" button.  This includes an action drop-down that lets you change the mission's action from a set of actions that depend on the mission's current phase.  One of the options is for the mission to return home.  So you can do that instead of ending the mission on the spot.

Currently, people in the simulation breathe pure oxygen.  We don't have the consistency of the life support air simulated at this time.  We've talked about doing that in the past, but just haven't done it yet.  I've heard some suggest that pure oxygen would actually be good in rovers and EVA suits as you could keep the air at a lower pressure than if you used a buffer gas, but I would think the risk of fires would be increased.

With Sebastien's addition of logging, I was able to find some bugs that led to a lot of missions being started, then abruptly ending.  This was due to bugs in the inventory code.  Some missions were also getting stuck in the loading/unloaded phases.  Still others missions had troubles with the person starting the mission being able to recruit enough members.  I've fixed all these bugs that I could find and I think missions have a lot less chance of ending before the get started in 2.83.

Settlers shouldn't be carrying around EVA suits unless they are performing and EVA operation.  If that's the case, that might be a bug I'm not aware of.  I'll keep an eye out for it while I'm testing.

      Thanks,

perhaps wear and tear and the manufacture of EVA suits from EVA components also manufactured from raw materials could be a good supply and demand chain.
