Bringing this over from the New Mars messageboards...
Still no luck in getting it to run. Console says:
"Problem loading default simulation java.lang.Exception: Saved file: /Applications/MarsProject_2.76/saved/default.sim not found.
Creating new simulation"
(There's nothing in the saved map, but i guess that's normal?)
clicking the .jar, I get either a picture of Mars on the desktop or a bigger one of a rover. But am unable to do anything further, except quit and 'about...' (wich, BTW doesn't display anything but "JAVA")
Once, after/during quitting, I saw a glimpse of another screen, a graphical one with text but it was too fast to read anything.

Not unnecessary at all. I appreciate the feedback since I've been unable to test the last couple of versions on the Mac OSX.
If the problem stemmed from not initially having a save file in the downloaded release, I can replace the release file with one that has the save file. I had it removed so the program would be forced to create a new simulation the first time it is run.
Could you tell me what you had to do to fix it in case other Mac OSX users run into the same problem?
Thanks,
Scott Davis

The 'problem' was not a problem, I guess... upon starting, it makes its own save file.
I just went to diskutils and did a 'repair permissions,' and everything seems to work now.
But.... It could be i was just screaming help for no reason at all... When starting the jar, you get the splashscreen, but then it takes ages before the main window appears, so i might've thought it hung when it didn't... (running this on a sloooow mac, to make things worse, heh.)
Anyhow: Impressive piece of work, keep up the good job!
(Though i guess a lot of people will get put off by the non-interactive character the sim is in now... Although it *is* interactive, if you have the time and skills to write missions.)
(My English is failing me, i feel.)

I corrected the download files so that they now have a saved file when you install it. So hopefully no one else will have this problem.
I helped get it running on some iBooks at last years Mars Society convention and it did run a bit slow. This was version 2.74 and we didn't have a clickable executable jar file and we had to run it from the console.
I added the executable jar file particularly in hopes that it would make it easier to start the program on a Mac OSX.

Ok... Seems to be a non-issue, it works fine on someone else's Mac.
(10 secs later...)
Heehee, and now on mine too!
It's just a matter of repairing permissions.
Sorry for the unneccesary dribble.
