Hello out there in mars-sim land! I've been quietly downloading and monitoring this project, and I'd like to make a few bug reports. Trouble is, the bug report feature of sourceforge.com is not allowing me to make all my reports -- "error getting bug ID",  the system tells me. No matter, I'll send it via forum!

The Navigation Tool has difficulties on redraw when its window is moved too quickly, especially in situations where the tool has been partially obscured by the boundaries of the simulation main window. Small rectangles fail to be drawn, exposing the underlying background or window. A pseudo-copy of this background is carted around with the window until the redrawer draws this area again.

    * The problem exists only with the 'edges' of the tool -- i.e. the top namebar, the gray sides, etc.

    * Changeable elements, i.e. the globe, the map, etc. are redrawn immediately, even if the problem area is adjacent. This does not affect the adjacent problem area.

    * Activating any other window causes the entire tool to be redrawn.

    * Continued movement of the Mars Navigation Tool may or may not cause redrawing to occur. Eventually, the tool will be redrawn, but how such movement is required to induce redrawing varies. Redrawing in this case may not occur all at once, but may be don in successive rectangular chunks.

    * This problem does not occur with any other window or tool.

    * System info: Windows ME, JRE 1.3 for Java 2, Mars Project 2.7, installed on client.

    Hope this helps!

This bug appears to have been fixed in the 2.71 release.

      Allen,

I haven't seen this bug in my testing.  I've tested the project on Windows 98, NT, 2000 and Linux all using Sun's 1.3 VM.

Let me know if you come across it again.

      Thanks,

      Scott Davis
