A key-mappable taunt feature would be quite good. When
pressed it will play a marine dialogue sound effect.
Taunt in accordance with Project: Pfhorskin:
Also if this taunt feature is implemented, it would work
great with Project: Pfhorskin in that the taunts could differ
depending on which Player Type was chosen (ie. if PlayerB
in a net game is playing a bob, his taunt says something
like, "They're Everywhere!" or the other silly things they
say, choosing the taunt randomly at the time it is pressed).
Since I have a coder on my team, you may be asking why
he doesnt just attempt these things. The answer is that we
are both new to the A1 project and he is still familiarizing
himself with the source files and the languages while I
keep coming up with ideas. Any help and direction that
could be given to aid phip in his endeavors would be most
appreciated.
MML supports console macros, which allow taunts to be sent with a few keystrokes. Lua netscripts can play sounds and print messages to one or all players' screens, which can be used to build more complex options. The engine does not currently provide extensible key mappings, however.
