Yes, the information in the tutorials still apply (AOI box parts might be different though). The tutorials just won't show much of the new widgets/models that are implemented. The tutorial sample configuration files have been updated to work with the HEAD version. I don't know if others agree with me about this, but another piece of advice I can give is when you are developing an application using mapbuilder is that it is probably best if you code your application outside of the mapbuilder directory tree. That way, the mapbuilder installation can be updated by dropping a new .war or .zip file on the server and your custom code won't be affected. You can point to customized widget stylesheets in the config by using the <stylesheet> property. Something else to be included in the documentation.
