The Mapbuilder community are delighted to announce the first maintenance release of Community Mapbuilder 1.5.1: http://docs.codehaus.org/display/MAP/Downloads This is a minor release for maintenance, addressing some bug fixes with recent browsers (Firefox 3.6 and 4+, Internet Explorer 9 to 11, Opera and WebKit-Browsers like Google Chrome), and updating OpenLayers to the 2.13 release. For Details: Read the News http://docs.codehaus.org/display/MAP/mapbuilder-lib-1.5.1-release or see the Release Notes linked there! Thanks to Cameron Shorter and Steven Ottens for their help! Hi devs, I would like to propose to give Bernhard Kiselka trunk commit access. He has already provided patches, is an active developer of Mapbuilder based applications, and as a former collegue of mine he has my full trust. He wants to keep Mapbuilder updated for a while to support new browsers etc. (see e.g. http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MAP-558), which in my opinion is something we should encourage. +1 from me. Hi list! I ran into the same problem like John (actually just the dynamic loading of scripts was broken), that Firefox 3.6 does not recognize Mozilla-browsers correctly anymore. Obviously document.readyState does now exist in Firefox 3.6 too. Thanks to Rober's suggestions I was able to solve the problems. I tested it in IE6, IE7, IE8 and FF2, FF3.5.8 and FF3.6 - it worked fine. Enclosed you find the patch. Cheers, Bernhard |

Hi John, I have had the same problem. I have changed two files: MapBuilder.js and Config.js. In MapBuilder.js: Replace two lines: (75) this.checkScriptsLoaded=function() { (76) //if (document.readyState!=null){ if ((document.readyState)&&(navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase().indexOf("ie") > -1)){ (135) case MB_LOAD_CONFIG: (136) //if(document.readyState){ (137) if ((document.readyState)&&(navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase().indexOf("ie") > -1)){ In Config.js: To the final of the file: /** * Initialise the global config object for Mozilla browsers. */ if (navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase().indexOf("ie") > -1){ }else{ mapbuilder.setLoadState(MB_LOAD_CONFIG); config=new Config(mbConfigUrl); config[config.id] = config; config.loadConfigScripts(); } Bye. -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/The-new-Firefox-3-6-does-not-work-with-mapbuilder-Any-suggestions-tp4485771p4655226.html Sent from the MapBuilder Devel mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Yes, I agree. Andrea, I'll need to buy you a beer at FOSS4G 2010. Of interest to those on this list. Till Adams has submitted a presentation for FOSS4G about why some projects do well, using Openlayers and Mapbuilder as an example. I'm really excited to see this, and was delighted to see that the community ranked the presentation very highly. So make sure you look out for it when you come to FOSS4G. http://2009.foss4g.org I'll be on leave for a week, so if there are any motions that Andrea pushes forward re Mapbuilder, I pre-emptively vote +1 to his suggestion. The Mapbuilder community is proud to announce the release of Mapbuilder 1.5, the last official stable release provided by the current development team. See [1] for more information. The new release is available for download at [2]. Mapbuilder 1.5 is based on OpenLayers 2.8 and was tested on Internet Explorer (versions 6, 7 and 8) and Mozilla Firefox (versions 2.x and 3.x). This ensures that users can keep using Mapbuilder for some time, and extend their applications with the rich feature set of OpenLayers 2.8 Since the last stable release 1.0.1, there have been significant changes and improvements, most of them related to switching from Mapbuilder's own rendering to OpenLayers. See [3] for the full change log. If you are upgrading applications from 1.5-alpha1 or earlier, see [4] for a list of required configuration changes. Regards, Andreas Hocevar. The Mapbuilder community is proud to announce the release of the 3rd release candidate of Mapbuilder 1.5, the last official release provided by the current development team. This is a minor release, addressing some bug fixes with recent browsers (Firefox 3, Internet Explorer 7 and 8), and updating OpenLayers to the 2.8 release. Please help us test this release candidate, which is available for download at [1]. Bugs should be reported in JIRA [2], under the 1.5rc3 version. We are planning to release 1.5 final one week from today if no issues are reported, otherwise we will create a new release candidate. Thank you all for supporting Mapbuilder! Regards, Andreas Hocevar. [1] http://docs.codehaus.org/display/MAP/Downloads [2] http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MAP |

+2. Andreas, I incredibly appreciative that you have taken this through to completion as we had said we would. Thank you so much. Cameron. PS. There is an interesting presentation at FOSS4G covering "what makes a successful project", comparing mapbuilder and openlayers. It should be very good if selected. Hi Thanks for picking up the release of 1.5 +1 Steven On a side note, GeoExt really is shaping up. I've been playing with it for a bit now and I like it, definitely interesting for mapbuilder people who want to move to a new platform.
