[mantisbt-dev] mantis in Debian

Hey guys,

those of you who where involved in the discussion will remember that we
had a discussion about mantis, Debian and security about 1 year and a
half. The reason for it was that the Debian security team refused to
give support for mantis due to the bad experience they made with mantis
(a lot of security-related bugs, hidden bug reports, etc.) and the most
felt consequence has been that the latest Debian release did not contain
any mantis version.

Now over a year after our discussion, that resulted in some changes, in
a fight were I tried convincing several parties in Debian that quality
and procedures of mantis has been bettered and I even had to provide
security fixes for mantis 0.19.x (because it is in Debian oldstable)
I can proudly tell that I just got the information,
that mantis is no longer blocked from beeing integrated
into the next stable release. :-)) That means if there is not
happening anything bad in the meanwhile the next Debian release called
lenny will contain mantis. Most likeley 1.1.x.

This news is for anybody who might be interested in that.

yes, I want to provide a backport via backports.org, soon.
However the backported version will be 1.0.8, not 1.1.0.
