We've just swicthed to Mantis, we've been using an in-house solution
previously... how do we bump the Mantis bug number so that its first
id follows on from our previous system? We need to keep the ticket

There are some solutions:
1) If you migrate your old database to Mantis and therefor insert your
old bugs into its database, Mantis (or MySQL in that way) will
automagically auto increment the bug id after your last entry
2) If you start from scratch with Mantis, it would start with id=1 of
But you can prevent MySQL from doing so if you set the auto_increment
value of the bug table ("mantis_bug_table") to the appropriate value.
Its very easy if you use phpMyAdmin (I use version 2.6.4 for this
example): choose the bug table (normally "mantis_bug_table"), go to page
"Operations" and set the "auto_increment" value at the bottom to your
next bug id.
3) You can also do it with a simple (My)SQL statement: ALTER TABLE
mantis_bug_table AUTO_INCREMENT = "new_bug_id"! ;-)
