I think that kind of functionality is generally very good. But I'd like
it to be more general.
We should have a function that does all the authentication and if it
aggrees with the credentials look up if the user already exists (=> do
nothing special, contiune as allways) or if it doesn't (=> create the
user in the database with default values and continue then).
This way we can have many different ways to log in. One function for
the default mantis, one for phpBB and one for LDAP (ok, that's the
reason why I'm writing this mail...).
Which function gets called should depend only on the cofig file
