After all my investigation, hair pulling, and anger with IE6/7, I want
to propose the following changes to fix the problem with 9754. However,
the problem is that fixing 9754 will, by merit of the fix, will break
the old bug 9323 (but only for IE6/IE7).
However, given the severity of 9754, and the somewhat lesser severity of
9323 (you can still use Mantis just fine as long as you make sure you
always fill in required fields), I think this is at least a worthwhile
trade off until we can generate ' *real* solution to the problem, such
as regenerating the form when there are problems, rather than relying on
the back button.
Anyways, the fix I have in mind is to revert the IE-specifc cache
headers in core.php, so that IE won't ever use a stale page. It will
solve 9754, but since IE doesn't always store form contents like Firefox
and Opera do, it will lose form contents when pressing the back button.
