Manjaro XFCnome Golden Edition is an unofficial manjaro edition which combines Xfce Destkop with as many compatible Gnome Applications as possible. It is pronounced "ex ef knom".... just another weird name in many weird linux distributions names :P
The idea was inspired by what Budgie 10 tried to achieve. That means a stable and full featured gtk Desktop Environment together with the stability and clean user interface of Gnome Applications, without the Gnome Shell which is heavy monolithic software written in it's own toolkit and it is causing performance and stability issues (personal opinion). However, budgie was based on Gnome low level software (like mutter) which keeps causing breakages and problems with each gnome update. Using Xfce and carefully choosing only compatible gnome apps solves this.
This edition aims to work out of the box and be as user friendly as possible. I use it personally and I aim to install it in as many PCs as possible (friends and family).
Features
- XFCE
- Gnome Applications
