Items

Items are an important part of the Mandate Engine. Items can be employed at varying levels to achieve different systems.

An item can be used purely as an enhancement. Enhancement is a class containing all the stats of units like health, mana, and so forth. Any stat that a unit has, including skill related stats like attack strength can be modified with an item.

Items can also add new skills or commands, or add effects to attacks, or even add abilities like fear and awe. Fear lowers morale of nearby units causing them to route faster while awe prevents units from attacking your unit depending on their morale. Awe does not reduce morale.

Items can also add item, resource, or unit creation to other units. You could create a kiln item that a player has to use and install it in a building to increase production of clay products and so forth You would effectively "equip" the building with an item just like a normal unit gets a sword.

Items can have other effects such as increasing armor and resistance or adding fire damage to attacks. Arbitrary stats such as a magic skill in necromancy and such can be increased with items as well.
