MAME OS X enumerates all Audio Units on a system to populate the popup menu in "Audio Effects Info" window. However, just enumerating all AUs can cause a bad AU to crash MAME OS X. Some AUs require anti-piracy dongles, which are needed just to enumerate an AU. Thus, to avoid crashing or require the dongles just to run MAME OS X, there should be a way around this.

One way is to be able to skip AUs matching a pattern. But it's possible that even getting the name of an AU will trigger the crash or anti-private mechanism. Probably the easiest way is to just disable audio effects so no AUs get triggered.
