#2 Line continuation differs between platforms
Line continuation handling differs between Mac and Windows.
On Mac, line continuation characters are removed from the returned line result. That's fine.
On Windows, line continuation characters are removed but the returned line result contains a newline character (\n) where the line continuation was. Not good.
