To be true, I think this is more sensible solution than mailsyncing.
Mailsync is much more usable for everyday syncing...

Speaking of which, the latest CVS still works and gives no unpleasant
surprises (for me at least). Is it released, yet?

As for the bug, just in case I'm one of those who are expected to look
at it -- I have no idea... Could it be related to those
opening/reopening mailboxes changes that has happened lately?
