Heres a couple tasks. When an imap mail is fetched but only the header, and u click the mail in the table, it starts to download the message, and shows a screen like the attached image. I will suggest we as a minimum inserts a button saying 'stop download' or 'stop'. Theres also another issue related to this: The fetching of body in imap currently fetches all body, but it is possible to make methods which fetches different bodyparts, and, for example only fetches the message while not attachments. Implementing this would require changes in ImapAccount and ImapController, plus some adjustment changes in MessageViewer and Message. Is anyone up for making an uml (or similar) of a rfc2822 message? The Message class and other classes needs a redesign, and I think it would be interesting to make an uml first. Stig |

Hey all I have added the net.sf.mailsomething.mail.MimeType class and MimeTypeException. Which means the use of the jaf libary is not necessary anymore. In case someone is confused about the cvs structure: /mailsomething/src is main line. /mailsomething/gifs should be checked out as a folder called gif relative to the root of ur classpath when working on the project. /mailsomething/lib libaries being used. As mentioned jaf is no longer necessary. Im not sure why jetty, jasper and velocity are present in the libs, as far as I know currently only htmlparser and bsh is required to run the app. I will make a new folder: /mailsomething/test Which should contain the same package hierachy as the /mailsomething/src folder but where each package contains unit tests for the classes in the package. No, I'm still around !! I haven't done any real work since doing a different website which still needs extra work - I've been waiting to hear from you ! How did the exams go ? Did you start your job ? I remember you mentioned it was at a Submarine Builder - I didn't know oz built subs - are they nuke or diesel ? [The only reason I ask is a friend of mine used to work as a design engineer on trident ballistic missile subs - very hush hush, he wouldn't talk about ANYTHING he did]. On another note, it is looking more and more likely that myself and my family will be emigrating to Perth sometime this year - we're a bit fed up living in England (everything is so expensive and the country is going to the dogs). Speak to you later. Greetings all, It has been a long time since we had any communication and I think that we should get back into it again, that is of course IF YOU WANT TO. What I think we should do is if you want to continue on the project send me (dwo...@ho...) a message and I will get back to you with some tasks. Which I have been looking at over the past few days. If I don't recieve a reply by Tuesday next week, I will remove the users I have not heard from, from the project. Regards Darren W. |

Greetings all, Since I am rather new to large Java projects, and Eclipse, my apologies = for what may well be a stupid question, but I have burned quite some = time in trying to figure this one out: How can I take the MailSomething project and create a valid Eclipse = project with it? I have attempted to import the build.xml file, create = separate projects that point to the existing source, and create a new = project and add the existing files... Each attempt fails in a slightly = different way. Is there a simple method?=20 In the (unlikely) event that there is no easy way, what tools are = recommended for development? I have Jedit which works well for editing = and compiling, but I'd like a good debugger as well. Comments, questions, corrections, critiques, welcome; Suggestions = encouraged. Thanks! -rz. |

Not entirely - I've just redone a new web site for the project. I haven't put the URL on the mailinglist as its my home server and I don't want to advertise it to the internet at large. Hello All, I was just wondering whether anyone here is still doing any work. I know that I haven't been but I think that I would like to get back into it. My excuse has been all of the University work that has been piling up and the recent holiday that I had. Anyways, I hope to hear any information from you all soon and hopefully we can get going again. All, You will be pleased to know I have done some work on the notepad functionality although have not had a chance to put it on CVS. I am currently working on the ability to have line wrapping. Most of the file and edit functions now work. Hey Friends I am Balaji and i am interested in contributing to this project not only as a developer but also to give new ideas to this project viz... Design,Features in this project and make this project more innovative which would make this more popular than the rest of the other mail clients out there.I have done my Masters in Computer Applications and i work as a J2ME Developer in a software Company and i am from India . I am a huge fan of Linux and i love open source projects but i could not really find time until now to contribute to any of the open source projects coz i was busy with my college work but now since i am out of the college and since i have entered the IT field I would like to contribute to this project in all possible ways. I kindly request you that in future if i make any mistakes regards to a project please correct me regards to that :-) . I am still learning a lot (with respect to Java , J2ME, Linux, Python, MySQL) and learning never ends .i really look forward to this project Regards Balaji |

Hey Mike I dont know how many of the guys, I have added to the project, who have been active. So far 2 guys, Bogdan and Darren has informed me they are working on tasks (Bogdan finished one). And I have myself done a little work on the mailcode. TO ALL: I will ofcourse be very happy to hear from people that they will take on tasks (or allready have). As I wrote to Kevin yesterday, my hope is that the project can be continued with many people doing small tasks now and then. The project is mature in the sence that it is possible to seek out a relatively specific task where you dont need to know a lot about all the code. Hey everyone :-) How are people doing with the project? I have so far only heard from 2 guys signing up for some of the possible tasks. Bogdan has finished a first draft of a MimeType class, which sooner or later will replace the use of the jaf libary (activation.jar). Darren says he is working on the notepad functionality. What is everyone else doing? Stig |

Hey Darren Well ideally the code should be placed in another project. The idea of that code and the way I have done some of it is in no direct relation to the mailcode, so I think it just makes the mailsomething project more cluttered. And if one puts the project related code in another project it will probably also be easier to understand (not cluttered by mailsomething code). But as long as noone have taken the initiative to create a new project for it, the code will remain in mailsomething. Its just a matter of someone taking the responsibility for such a project/subproject... make a project for it, import some of the code from mailsomething which can be used, perhabs search for some developers interested, define some goals for that project. Hey > I've downloaded the source files. Can anyone give me some idea on how > to build and run it on windows platform. If you extract it somewhere in ur filesystem, there should be an ant buildscript which can be used to build a jar. After that u need to run it with the correct classpath. Probably the easiest way is to import the source into an ide, and add the necessary libaries to the ide classpath, and let it build it all. I dont remember exactly if the ant buildscript works with those source-releases... But I think I tested it before I released those. It is not a particular good idea to work with the source from the downloadable zip files. It is old, and you cannot asume that the code in those are the recent code in cvs. If it is impossible for you to get cvs to work (firewall or similar) you can allways get the lates cvs code here: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cvstarballs/mailsomething-cvsroot.tar.bz2 It is updated nightly.
