We've made two releases MailManager over the last couple of days.
First, the long awaited 1.1 final is now released. There are no changes
between 1.1 and release candidate 5 so there's no particular need to
rush to upgrade.
We have also released an alpha of MailManager 2.0. This version of
MailManager uses PostgreSQL to store the tickets, in some of our
testing the performance has improved 300x for some operations. This
alpha requires PostgreSQL but 2,0 final will support MySQL. The
conflict errors which have been a long term problem with MailManager
when there are more than a few active users have also disappeared.
Finally, the MailCheckThread has been removed. This never worked very
reliably so we have now taken it out. We are shipping ZopeScheduler
which is an optional replacement or you can continue to use cron.
The purpose of this release is to let you see what we've been working
on, it is absolutely not intended to be used seriously. It is going to
go into QA this week and I hope we will be able to release a beta a
Other news is that we've hired two new members of staff. Kevin Campbell
joins as a software engineer, he will be working full time on
MailManager. Peter George is joining us tomorrow, he will be managing
