Those on the sourceforge tracker should already have been informed, but that
is 2.1-rc3 finally out of the door. There are a lot of bugfixes in this
release since 2.1-rc2, and I would assume there will still be a couple more
fixes before we get to final.
The 2.1 release now requires the following changes to be made:
* You need the environment variable TZ set to UTC before running zope.
This can be configured in runzope or zopectl.
* The postgres database adapter needs to be configured to output unicode
* Existing postgres databases need to be dumped/restored and converted
into utf-8 encoding. I've got a script for this although it's not
fully tested yet.
I'll get the conversion script tidied up and posted to the list and checked
into subversion asap. I guess that the final 2.1 release will need to have
this automated as part of the migration procedure. Unfortunately, it's not
the simplest thing to do, purely as there are a lot of different setups to
If you are using 2.1, it would be very helpful to get some feedback as to
whether the conversion script works for you, so that I can try and fix any
issues before releasing to general users on 2.0.
