No

I have been trying to import products using MAGMI. I activated the On the fly category creator/importer.
After several attempts all went well, my products got imported, but I have two ROOT categories, one for the catalog I want displayed, and one for discount rules.
I have tried importing the categories with my simple products using several syntaxes, but new categories keep being added under the default category, instead of under the new one I created.
(the name I used for my new ROOT category is being added under default category)

So.. after browsing the internet, I stumbled on this:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/23541081/magento-magmi-import-tool-not-importing-products-into-specified-store-category which is the same problem.
and this one:
https://github.com/dweeves/magmi-git/commit/601f6e14060a0f32d36cb60fd4e34b240a99fad2

So that sounded promising. I made the changes and when trying to import again, I got a fatal error. Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class CategoryImporter in <last line="">
I then copied the whole file and uploaded that one, still a fatal error.
So I went back to my backup of the original file, but the fatal error does not go away. A new line number, but still the fatal error.

Now I am stuck, no idea what to do next. Hope someone can help.

your "fatal error" may be due to some PHP opcode cache. my advice in that case:

1 - get the latest git version from git, copy it in ANOTHER directory than your current magmi.
2 - copy all "conf" directory from old magmi to new magmi git copy (in order to get back your connection & profile info in the new magmi)

Since the directory won't be the same, the opcode cache will not alias the class on itself.

Thank you very much Sebastian, for your very fast reply.
I did as you suggested, and the fatal error problem is gone!
    A relief...

Still facing the other issue though. See my initial question.
I tried importing the categories as:
    [ARTGROUPS]/X55
    [ARTGROUPS]X55
    ARTGROUPS/X55
    /ARTGROUPS/X55
Only the last 2 records get imported, but my new root directory is added UNDER the default category.
Is there a way to import products in a new ROOT directory?

For "root" category syntax to work with [some root cat name]/level1 , the
category between [] must be associated with a store root category.
