#8 FreeBSD ACE Detection problem?

Hello, I recently decided to try out the new version of
Magick, and been having a hard time getting it to see
my ACE Library. I compile the ACE library without a
hitch, and have tried everything i can think of to get the
configure script to see it. I have tried copying the library
to /usr/lib, /usr/local/lib, telling the configure script to
look in the ace dir itself, setting the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable, and no luck. I always get:

checking for _make_ACE_Naming_Context in -lACE...
no

when running configure.

I am running FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE.

with this version of ACE:

libACE.so.5.3.1

If you can think of something i am missing, please let
me know. it could be that it is 2am and i am brain dead.
