It would be nice to be able to collapse a node, with a
+ - symbol in front of the node to denote
collapse/expand state.

will be done when maemo's gtk theme includes expanders (+/-
symbols) and lines in a GtkTreeView, or when somebody helps
me figure out how to fix it myself (with a .gtkrc or some
GtkStyle api calls)

currently without the visual aids it would be hard for the
end user.
