Here's a few more details. In Windows XP's device manager, under the advanced tab of the properties for this card, one of the options is "Radio on/off". That is what the IBM fn-F5 program changes. I seem to remember that there were much fewer properties in this list prior to the last version release from IBM, but here are all the options available now: 802.11b Preamble [Long and Short, Long only] Extended Channel Mode [Disable(for N America), Enable] Map Registers [multiples of 8 from 32 to 512] mode 11dSwitch [Disable, Enable] Network Address [enter one, or Not Present] Power Save Mode [Maximum, Normal, Off] Radio On/Off [Off, On] Transmit Power [100%, 12.5%, 25%, 50%, Lowest] I don't know what the Map Registers or mode 11dSwitch options even mean, but the power options are something that would be supported in linux by iwconfig. I was wondering if there might be something here helpful in identifying how we could turn it on. Thanks again, Joel Joel Ebel wrote: > Yeah. No luck. I'm still guessing it's IBM silliness.
