Correct.
  I have not seen a post from John on the madwifi list for a while now, so 
I assume he has moved on to other projects.

I have no involvement in this - there has been no need of any input from 
me.

Felix Fietkau did the rework of Minstrel to fit into mac80211. He did a 
good job. There were some things, like coping with cards that don't have a 
retry chain in hardware that I am not sure about. However, the basic 
process of Minstrel is still the same.
