Hi, I am having a really strange issue, and I believe the cause is the wireless driver. Here is the problem: If I start up my computer, then issue the wpa_supplicant command to authenticate to my wireless network (after a few seconds) Knoppix will freeze and I will need to restart my laptop. The strange thing is that if before I invoke wpa_supplicant after I restart the wireless router, I do no have any problems. On the network there is also another computer that runs Windows XP. This laptop never has any issues getting onto the network. Here is some information regarding my particular hardware and software versions: knoppix@0[madwifi]$ wpa_supplicant -v wpa_supplicant v0.4.0 Copyright (c) 2003-2005, Jouni Malinen <jkm...@cc...> and contributors ath_hal: module license 'Proprietary' taints kernel. ath_hal: 0.9.14.9 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413) wlan: 0.8.4.5 (EXPERIMENTAL) ath_rate_onoe: 1.0 ath_pci: 0.9.4.12 (EXPERIMENTAL) PCI: Enabling device 0000:04:00.0 (0000 -> 0002) ath0: 11b rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps ath0: 11g rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps 6Mbps 9Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps 24Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps ath0: mac 7.9 phy 4.5 radio 5.6 ath0: 802.11 address: 00:13:46:0f:3d:e7 ath0: Use hw queue 0 for WME_AC_BE traffic ath0: Use hw queue 1 for WME_AC_BK traffic ath0: Use hw queue 2 for WME_AC_VI traffic ath0: Use hw queue 3 for WME_AC_VO traffic ath0: Atheros 5212: mem=0x20800000, irq=5 This is the version of madwifi being used: madwifi-module 20040308-2 I am using Knoppix 3.9, and cannot use the newest CVS version of Madwifi w/o going through considerable effort (perhaps re-mastering the CD). Is there some type of workaround? Thanks, stonee |
