Hi. I recently purchased a D-Link DWL-G520 rev. B2. I have for some time now been using an older DWL-520 rev. E1 as a Linux-based access point/router with the HostAP driver and hostapd daemon. It only supports 802.11b, so I thought it was time for me to move to 802.11g. I was intending to use this card as an access point with the madwifi driver and hostapd daemon. Is there anything I need to know about doing this? Caveats, features not yet supported, problems I might run into? I would like security to be WPA-EAP, but because my client card does not yet support WPA (Intel 2915ABG with the ipw2200 driver) I'll probably be using 802.1x with dynamic WEP for the time being. At least for a short while (until I can find a good deal on a CardBus .11g card) there'll be a legacy .11b client occasionally on-line. I've looked at the mailing list archives, and it seems that there have been a few headaches with this hardware, but it's unclear what revision is being talked about. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer. Regards, Andrew Barr |
