Hello, according to http://www.nuclearcat.com/athmap.txt the maximum txpower (EIRP) in Germany are: 2.4GHz: 18 dBm (63 mW) 5.1GHz - 5.3GHz: 16 dBm (39mW) 5.5GHz - 5.7GHz: 17 dBm (50mW) According to the german netagency (Bundesnetzagentur) the maximum txpowers (EIRP) are http://www.bundesnetzagentur.de/media/archive/313.pdf: 2.4GHz: 20 dBm (100mW) http://www.bundesnetzagentur.de/media/archive/5009.pdf: 5.15GHz - 5.25GHz: 23dBm (200mW) 5.25GHz - 5.35GHz: 23dBm (200mW) with a penalty of 3dBm if no TPC is implemented 5.47GHz - 5.72GHz: 40dBm (1000mW) with a penalty of 3dBm if no TPC is implemented My Wistron CM9 Cards just allow me to set the txpower to 16 dBm with 2.4GHz when i use madwifi 0.9.2 (hal 0.9.17.2) ath_hal: 0.9.17.2 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413) wlan: 0.8.4.2 (0.9.2) ath_rate_sample: 1.2 (0.9.2) wlan: mac acl policy registered ath_pci: 0.9.4.5 (0.9.2) wifi0: 11a rates: 6Mbps 9Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps 24Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps wifi0: 11b rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps wifi0: 11g rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps 6Mbps 9Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps 24Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps wifi0: turboG rates: 6Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps 24Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps wifi0: H/W encryption support: WEP AES AES_CCM TKIP wifi0: mac 5.9 phy 4.3 radio 3.6 wifi0: Use hw queue 1 for WME_AC_BE traffic wifi0: Use hw queue 0 for WME_AC_BK traffic wifi0: Use hw queue 2 for WME_AC_VI traffic wifi0: Use hw queue 3 for WME_AC_VO traffic wifi0: Use hw queue 8 for CAB traffic wifi0: Use hw queue 9 for beacons wifi0: Atheros 5212: mem=0x80000000, irq=12 ~ # iwlist ath1 txpower ath1 8 available transmit-powers : 0 dBm (1 mW) 4 dBm (2 mW) 6 dBm (3 mW) 8 dBm (6 mW) 10 dBm (10 mW) 12 dBm (15 mW) 14 dBm (25 mW) 16 dBm (39 mW) Current Tx-Power=16 dBm (39 mW) With an old version of the driver i'm able to use a maximum txpower of 19dBm: ath_hal: 0.9.16.16 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413) wlan: 0.8.4.2 (svn 1452) ath_rate_sample: 1.2 (svn 1452) wlan: mac acl policy registered ath_pci: 0.9.4.5 (svn 1452) wifi0: 11a rates: 6Mbps 9Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps 24Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps wifi0: 11b rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps wifi0: 11g rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps 6Mbps 9Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps 24Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps wifi0: turboG rates: 6Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps 24Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps wifi0: H/W encryption support: WEP AES AES_CCM TKIP wifi0: mac 5.9 phy 4.3 radio 3.6 wifi0: Use hw queue 1 for WME_AC_BE traffic wifi0: Use hw queue 0 for WME_AC_BK traffic wifi0: Use hw queue 2 for WME_AC_VI traffic wifi0: Use hw queue 3 for WME_AC_VO traffic wifi0: Use hw queue 8 for CAB traffic wifi0: Use hw queue 9 for beacons wifi0: Atheros 5212: mem=0x80000000, irq=12 ~ # iwlist ath1 txpower ath1 unknown transmit-power information. Current Tx-Power=19 dBm (79 mW) The maximum txpower seems to be a deliberate value of the atheros HAL, probably based on wrong informations. Could somebody forward the above information to the right people (the maintainer of athmap.txt and atheros) or would an enhancement ticket be the proper way? Regards, Markus |
