I have a Proxim 8480-WD card (802.11a/b/g combocard gold) that I am able to get associated with and working with a DLink DWL-7000AP trimode access point using 802.11a, but NOT with 802.11b/g. Connecting w/ 802.11a works w/ and w/o WEP. With 802.11b/g, I turned off WEP on the DLink AP. While under WindowsXP I can establish an 11b/g connection (w/o WEP), I cannot do the same under Linux. When I do 'iwlist ath0 scan', it shows the info for the 11a cell OK, but for the 11b/g cell it shows gibberish for the ESSID (all other info appears OK in the cell appears OK). I am running Redhat 9 w/ the latest kernel (2.4.26), latest pcmcia-cs modules and tools, latest MadWIFI drivers, and latest wireless tools (WE-16, version 26). Again I want to note that connectivity in both modes works OK under Windows XP. If I can get the connectivity issue w/ 802.11b/g issue resolved I'll be happy (but then I need to do Monitoring in both modes). Thanks! --john |
