Recently I upgraded to the kernel 2.6.24 and madwifi stop working for
me. Steps which I done:
kernel 2.6.18 -> 2.6.24
madwifi 0.9.2 -> 0.9.4-rc2 (from debian package) or 0.9.4-stable from sf
before upgrade it was working fine (though sometimes I had to
load/unload module in order to grab the device after resume)
hardware information: Lenovo/Thinkpad notebook x60s
relevant part of lcpci output:
0000:03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212
802.11abg NIC (rev 01)
what was done:
modprobe -r ath_pci
ath_pci: driver unloaded
wlan: driver unloaded
ath_hal: driver unloaded
ath_hal: 0.9.18.0 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413,
ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:03:00.0[A] -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 21
PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:03:00.0 to 64
wifi%d: unable to attach hardware: 'Hardware didn't respond as expected'
(HAL status 3)
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:03:00.0 disabled
I also tried to use madwifi-0.9.3 with patches from dev-maillist for
kernel-2.6.24 compilation. In this case driver loads to the memory and
through a lot of debug info into dmesg, if you need I will happily post it.
The result is the same: no working ath device.
