Acer Aspire 3680 running Ubuntu 8.04 with an Atheros AR5BXB63 radio.
I believe I installed properly. However, iwconfig only returns
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
sudo wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta
returns wlanconfig: ioctl: No such device
I turned the radio on in Vista and confirmed it was running then
rebooted into Ubuntu. I've also tried turning on the radio between
when the spash screen for the laptop and the grub screen come up.
What other info do you need from me?

That card is based on AR5007. You didn't mention which version of MadWifi
you're using, but this:
> sudo wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta
> returns wlanconfig: ioctl: No such device
makes me believe you could be using a stable release of MadWifi, and those
do not yet support AR5007 chipsets.
Check the output of the command "dmesg", I guess you'll find a line saying
something "HAL error 13". If this is the case, you might want to check
http://madwifi-project.org/ticket/1192 for a solution. Or upgrade to Ibex,
which comes with ath5k and should support your card out of the box.
