this is probably a stupid question, but is it possible to run simultaneously (on an atheros 5212) a virtual access point on 802.11a and another one on 802.11g? I.e. does the 5212 have a dual radio that could talk 11a and 11g simultaneously?
What I would like to do is something like:
wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode ap
wlanconfig ath1 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode ap
iwpriv ath0 mode 11a
iwpriv ath1 mode 11g
iwconfig ath0 channel 149
iwconfig ath1 channel 7
However, when I try it, both VAPs end up on the same channel as soon as I do ifconfig ath0 up; ifconfig ath1 up.
Am I doing something wrong or is it just impossible to do this with this network card?

Nope, all Atheros cards that are on the market today (or maybe just those
that I know of) have just one radio on board, thus the idea you describe
won't work. You'd need two cards, one for 11g and another for 11a.
