I have following problem.
Using CentOS 5.2 with kernel:
I am using madwifi drivers as installed rpm:
madwifi.i386 1:0.9.5-42_r3771.el5 installed
madwifi-hal-kmdl-2.6.18-92.1.22.el5.i686 1:0.9.5-42_r3771.el5 installed
madwifi-kmdl-2.6.18-92.1.22.el5.i686 1:0.9.5-42_r3771.el5 installed
I have really unexpected behaviour on my system with Atheros card:
0c:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5418 802.11abgn Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)
Subsystem: Giga-byte Technology Unknown device e916
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 177
Memory at f1ff0000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]
Capabilities: Power Management version 2
Capabilities: Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit- Queue=0/0 Enable-
Capabilities: Express Legacy Endpoint IRQ 0
Capabilities: MSI-X: Enable- Mask- TabSize=1
Capabilities: Advanced Error Reporting
Capabilities: Virtual Channel
The card switch itself to OFDM 802.11a band without my intervention and
even when I try to setup all settings via iwconfig (SSID, channel, encryption), after ifconfig up or down, it just switches to 802.11a!
I checked the log, and have not found anything interesting except:
"ieee80211_unref_node: NULL ieee80211_node"
I already checked this error but wihout any usable solution found.
I have another atheros pcmcia card and I have exactly the same problem with it!
I tried to use also older madwifi drivers withou any success.
Please point me where to look for a possible issue or what can be done, to solve it.
Thanks a lot to all
