I have gotten Wifi to work on Fedora Core 5 using the steps from Madwifi.
I am unable to easily switch between my local LAN and WLAN though.
I boot the laptop with the ethernet cable connected and I get full
I then run a script as follows:
ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig ath0 up
iwconfig ath0 essid "xyz"
iwconfig ath0 key abc..........
and I get full connectivity via the WLAN.
When I want to switch back I run a script as follows:
ifconfig ath0 down
ifconfig eth0 up
at which time I loose all connectivity. I am unable to get the wireless
lans to work. The only fix has been a reboot.
Is there a way to successfully switch back to the LAN once I am using
I would like a method that will work ir-regardless of whether the LAN
was connected during boot up.
