Since Months i am using a Phillips WLan PCMCIA Card with some
Bugs under ndiswrapper.
Inside works an Atheros 5212 chip with an unaccepted (by HAL ) regdomain
After a long Time i have tryed again to use the newest Version of Madwifi,
whitch is r1605 but the old Error is still the same:
Unable to collect a channel list from HAL... .
Any Chance of modifing ?
Idchange does not work because of the partitial write Protect of the EEProm.
The Write Protect is erasable, but no one could tell me how - for "legal"
issues - so i knew that it would work, but i do not knew how.
And hal is closed source... blocked to be better - also because of "legal"
issues and be afraid of using of illegal Cannels .
( Other Devices are modifiable for People hwo want to do such Things )
I do not need "illegal" Channels, i only want to use my WLAN Card.
On the other Side i am an Radioamateur with the Licens for the Rest of
the 13/6cm Band - but again, here in my Location there is not that much
Wlan activity - and no need for much Channels. But it would be legal for
me - useless on the other Side... .
96/276 is not illegal - but seems to be unknown by hal
Ndiswrapper freezes the System when transmitting large Files.
Attached: Part of dmesg Output: -> not attached in this Mail, because it is an
old Error and the Problem is the closed Source HAL and not the Driver.
This is an edited old Mail for an old Error... so there is no need for the
Output of dmesg.

Just so that others know as well: it's still on my list, and I will try
to bring this up to Atheros as soon as possible.

We are aware of this, and the issue you came across is not a wanted
behaviour. That's the reason why we have a ticket for it in the tracker.
