Does anybody know a way (or trick) to change the sensitivity of an Atheros
based card? I've been looking in the code but found that the
"ieee80211_ioctl_siwsens" is left blank.
We are using some Atheros based cards and the madwifi driver to study the
performance of applications over wireless mobile environments. The idea is
to move around the area covered by some APs (PC-boxes with PCI cards) but
have observed that cards do not look for a new AP unless complete signal of
their current AP is lost. We thought that modifying sensitivity could be a
good method to force earlier handoffs.
Does anybody experienced the same? What other solutions have you
I've been seeking in the mailing list archive but have not found any
responses to this. Sorry for the spam if this issue has been treated

I'm not aware of the possibilities to adjust the sensitivity by
software. But you could use attenuators to lower all signals received by
the antenna before they reach the receiver. This of course only works if
you use only external antennas.
