I'm running Fedora Core 6, madwifi 0.9.3.1-1 and a NetgearWG311TNA =
When I run ifconfig I see a lo and wifi0, also the wifi0 doesn't have an =
When I run iwconfig I see the following:
lo no wireless extensions
wifi0 no wireless extensions
ath0 IEEE 8012.11b ESSID:"" Nickname: ""
eth1 no wireless extensions
Why is it that when I run ifconfig I see wifi0 and not ath0? =20
Why is it that when I run iwconfig I see that wifi0 doesn't have an =
extension, yet ath0 has one?

That's described in ifconfig manual, right in the beginning:
If no arguments are given, ifconfig displays the status of the currently
active interfaces. If a single interface argument is given, it displays the
status of the given interface only; if a single -a argument is given, it
displays the status of all interfaces, even those that are down. Otherwise, it
configures an interface.

I believe iwconfig is working correctly, i.e. wifi0 doesn't support wireless
extensions, whereas ath0 does.
Wireless extensions are not implemented for MadWifi master interface. This is
described in README file that comes with MadWifi.
