Since I actually have my Linux laptop on my 5GHz network, I'd like to run see if I am on the right track with this. I would edit my network file as such: #start dual band config auto ath0 iface ath0 inet static address 192.168.0.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 gateway 192.168.0.1 pre-up iwpriv ath0 mode 11b pre-up iwconfig ath0 essid 24ghzWAP mode managed freq 2.412 key restricted 12345678abcdef auto ath0 iface ath0 inet static address 192.168.0.6 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 gateway 192.168.0.1 pre-up iwpriv ath0 mode 11a pre-up iwconfig ath0 essid 5ghzWAP mode managed freq 5.28 key restricted abcdef12345678 #end dual band config I assume I can add on any other iwconfig parameters on that last line. Then using these, I can toggle the bands on the fly? iwpriv ath0 mode 11b iwpriv ath0 mode 11a >ifconfig/iwconfig don't read or write any config files. *You* write the files in /etc/network... So, when one runs "ifconfig ath0" and "iwconfig ath0" the data displayed is read from, where, memory? |
