I am running load tests on a bridged topology involving multiple bridges
and I find that congestion is often high enough to prohibit beacons from
being sent at proper intervals. Our current beacon miss threshold is
low, so I am digging around looking for how to handle congestion in
station mode and know when the channel is 'very busy' and when the AP is
'very dead'. I'd like the driver to be able to tell the difference.
When I was looking around I noticed a comment in a change log on an
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG driver.
The comment was "Changed default # of missed beacons to miss before
disassociation to 24 (vs. 9 which is too low in most environments)"
I also found a lot of references to drivers where this was
configurable. I'd like opinions on whether this should be programmable
in MadWifi or whether we have ideas on how to differentiate between
'busy' and 'dead'.
