What is the meaning of the ss_mindwell and ss_maxdwell times for the
radio channel scanning in madwifi ?
AFAIK a station shall do active scanning on each channel like this:
1. Move to the channel and send a probe request.
2. Wait for the minimum channel time to elapse.
a) If no probe response or beacon was received, there is no
accesspoint available. Move to the next channel.
b) If any probe response or beacon was received during the
minimum channel time, continue to wait for more until the
maximum channel time elapses since the probe request was sent.
Are ss_mindwell and ss_maxdwell equivalent to these minimum and maximum
channel times respectively ?
I found that scanning with madwifi v0.9.3 takes rather long:
2 seconds for 13 channels, out of which 3 with APs and 10 empty.
It seems to me that madwifi handles ss_mindwell and ss_maxdwell
just the other way round: log message "min dwell met", but probe
responses were received.
Could the developers please sched light on this ?
Thanks in advance
