What are the differences in terms of features off the 3 different
branchs of madwifi?
Does ath9k support multiple virtual stas?
Does ath9k support all chipsets supported by 0.9.4 drivers?

I don't think anyone has a complete list.
The 0.9.4 branch is the only one still with a non-free HAL. It doesn't
support AR5007, AR5008 and newer devices. It also has some known
problems on SMP systems in AP mode. Yet some tests indicate that it has
the best performance.
The trunk supports more hardware and appears to behave better on SMP
machines. The DFS branch doesn't differ much from the trunk except for
better DFS support, especially in ad-hoc mode.

My quick test shows that it doesn't. I believe it's not supported in
any mac80211 drivers. I remember that it was discussed recently in the
linux-wireless list. Anyway, this list is not the best place to discuss
ath9k. There are separate mailing lists for ath9k.

The opposite is true. Chipsets supported by MadWifi 0.9.4 are not
supported by ath9k. Likewise, chipsets supported by ath9k are not
supported by MadWifi 0.9.4 or by the 0.9.4 branch.
