First off thanks for the only driver for this card (Proxim Orinoco Silver PCMCI).
I have tried posting this question on the users list, but didn't get any
feedback. So I am hoping someone will have an idea on this list.
I am reading some instructions for connecting to a wireless network and one of
the requirements is to assign a NetID. The instructions were for a Cisco card
being configured on Windows. I assumed that this was done through:
iwconfig ath0 nwid xxxxxxxx
But that came back with an error:
josh:~# iwconfig ath0 nwid xxxxxxxx
Error for wireless request "Set NWID" (8B02) :
SET failed on device ath0 ; Operation not supported.
I tried downloading the latest code from CVS today, but that didn't work,
either. In fact, it resulted in lots more errors, so I rolled back to 20030802.
I also get a warning every time I run iwconfig:
Warning: Driver for device ath0 has been compiled with version 15
of Wireless Extension, while this program is using version 12.
Some things may be broken...
Could this be the culprit?
Could someone tell me if I am doing something completely wrong.
Or this is a very advanced feature and has not been implemented yet.
This is a Proxim Silver card installed on IBM T20 laptop running Debian stable.
Thanks in advance for any advice/pointers.
