I have looked through the archives and found bits and pieces for what I need to do, but for some reason, [operator error] I am unable to get this to work. I am running:

title Fedora Core (2.4.22-1.2194.nptl)
root (hd0,1)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.22-1.2194.nptl ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi rhgb
initrd /initrd-2.4.22-1.2194.nptl.img

I have downloaded the cvs tree for madwifi and tried to do a make. It fails, I believe because I do not have the source for my kernel set up correctly and/or have not done the correct steps with respect to the kernel. I installed the kernel source from the src.rpm. It installed, but since I have never done anything with the kernel, I do not see where it installed the source files. In one of the e-mails I found it talked of doing a make.deps. How do I do that? Where is it to be put?

Can someone sketch out the steps or point me to a howto that covers the things I need to do with the kernel source to get the madwifi to compile. For those recommending I get the pre-built rpms, I get dependency errors when I try to install them. If you can give me instructions on how to use something like yum that can resolve and load the dependencies, that would work as well.
