[toolbox] Fwd: (Case 43877) Open request: extended attributes for file encoding

Hi listers,

A while ago I asked BareBones about support for storing the file  
encoding in an extended attribute. I think the answer is box- 
standard, but they are investigating this - which in itself is good  
news. Perhaps a pre-emptive strike on our behalf?
