As you must know, forums are generally quite messy compared to mailing-lists, as people tend to deviate from the original subject. I went through quite some of the posts and it's about running GNU/Linux (mostly Ubuntu but not exclusively) on all 8th generation MacBookPro models; I got the impression there was actually way more posts about the 15" & 17" models in this thread since they have more issues (dual graphics, etc.). It's a very long read but there's very interesting info scattered around.
