[Mactel-linux-users] Sound output device disappears from os x after used in linux.

Heya,

So looks like some kind of incompatibility with  how sound hardware is 
initialised by the two operating systems--

I've been running Ubuntu on a Macbook Pro 4,1 for over a year now, and 
it seems as soon as I got sound working in Ubuntu (long ago), it stopped 
working in os x.  Quite simply, it's not in my output devices anymore -- 
just "Digital Out", with no controls.  Oddly, though, sound does work 
fine in mac os when using headphones.

Does anyone know what might cause this behavior?  Is a reinstall of mac 
os necessary?
