[Mactel-linux-users] Booting From USB Drive

Hello,

Is it possible to boot Linux from a USB drive without modifying the Mac?

I installed Ubuntu on a USB drive, but the drive does not come up as a
boot option.

All the information I can find on the web is for booting from various
boot managers on the startup drive.  Is this really the only way?
